Mary Margaret and Chaz’s Christmas week wedding at Old St. Patrick’s Oratory was magnificent. The church was still decorated with fresh garland with red bows. There was a stunning Christmas tree, a nativity scene unlike any I’ve ever seen, handmade florals, and custom made attire. All of these details would have been reason enough to pick Christmas week for their celebration, but that wasn’t even the best reason. Thirty-four years ago on the same day Mary Margaret’s mom and dad were married.

I’ve been trying to find the words for this blog for two weeks since Mary Margaret and Chaz’s wedding day. There were so many precious moments that made this wedding special, and I’m not sure words can describe the way the wedding “felt”. I’m going to do my best, but I’ll let the images speak for themselves. This was also the first time we were able to use the Hasselblad on a wedding day. I will say, that Delta 3200 black and white film produced some of my favorite ceremony images to date.

“this was the source of much joy”

Mary Margaret and Chaz have a special relationship. In the time I’ve spent with these two; their genuine Catholic faith and reverence for God’s presence shows up in every interaction. As beautiful as the details were from their wedding; the main focus was the marriage itself. This was the source of much joy during their wedding day.

During speeches there was laughter. While this day was a celebration of Mary Margaret and Chaz’s new life together, there were also some tears in memory of Mary Margaret’s father. He left a beautiful legacy behind. Mary Margaret’s brothers danced in place of a father/daughter dance. She danced with each of her brothers during an emotional reception. I even wiped tears from my own eyes as I watched them each dance with their sister.

And the best part…the way Chaz looked at Mary Margaret. His love for her was evident every time he looked at her. These two have a beautiful connection and I am so excited to see how they build their lives together. Mary Margaret and Chaz, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We love you both and wish you so much joy and happiness. Here’s a preview of your lovely wedding day.
