Michelle & David | Rocky Mountain National Park

Posted in: Weddings

We are so excited to share this Rocky Mountain National Park elopement at Sprague Lake. Michelle and David have been waiting months to get married and we had been waiting months to capture their special day with this epic mountain scenery.

We had originally planned their Rocky Mountain National Park wedding in April, but in likeness to most weddings early this year, Michelle and David chose to postpone their elopement. And they certainly couldn’t have picked a better date. The weather was a perfect 74 degrees with blue skies and puffy white clouds. Sunsets were incredible and the mountains were as crisp as ever with evidence of the snow melting at higher altitude. I would say their June date was a success, but not just because of the weather; because Michelle and David finally were able to read their vows, promising to be husband and wife for the rest of their lives.

“these two were soaking up the mountain views”

They decided to get ready at a cabin in Estes Park with some incredible front porch views. This day was unlike the usual hustle and bustle of a wedding day, which is exactly what Michelle and David were looking for. The birds were chirping and these two were soaking up the mountain views on the front porch just hours before their ceremony. Michelle’s parents joined for the celebration and David’s close friend officiated the wedding. We kept a “loose” timeline to capture the best light. This was truly one of the most relaxing wedding days we have experienced.

The details were thoughtful, from Michelle’s custom “hiking” wedding shoes to her wearing her grandmother’s ring during the ceremony. The “distant” bridesmaids even made a Zoom appearance while we were capturing details. And our favorite detail – David’s vows, which were written on a Yahtzee scorecard. Michelle, we hope you frame that scorecard because we thought those words were too sweet.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. West! And in closing, while we were sad we didn’t get to put our arms around you both at the end of the night, I would say our socially distanced portraits are definitely “keepers”! 😉
