They spent their morning getting ready at the Hilton President Hotel, were married at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and danced the night away at the Abbott in downtown Kansas City. Katie and Kurt’s day was full of love, laughter and lots of pretty details with lovely pops of color.
It was said the best by Katie and Kurt’s priest during their wedding ceremony, “They met at this church, became engaged at this church and are now being married at church. I couldn’t ask for a better scenario for a couple…” For Katie and Kurt, their faith is deeply important, and marriage is deeply important. It was truly a blessing to be an observer of this special day with two who are so serious about their commitment to God, and to each other.
I also have to admit something a bit embarrassing… The first time we ever met, the Starbucks where we had planned on meeting was closed for renovation (whoops!), so we headed on over to another local coffee shop. We had a lovely time and then it happened… I left. Without paying for my coffee. Due to being out of my “order at the counter” routine, I left them with my tab. It wasn’t until hours later that it somehow popped into my head that I had forgotten to pay. While this may not reflect very well on me, I believe it speaks volumes to the kind of people that Katie and Kurt are. When I had finally gotten ahold of them, they were kind and generous and didn’t think anything about it (all the while I was so upset with myself).
Despite my forgetfulness, they still chose me to be with them on their wedding day. I was the one who got to spend time with them capturing their amazing day and for that I’m forever grateful.
Katie and Kurt, thank you again for my coffee and thank you for inviting me to witness such a wonderful day! And finally, a preview of your lovely day!
