Katie and Steve sat down at the wedding reception as instructed. What Katie didn’t know was that she was about to receive a congratulations card from her parents. The surprise was that they had written this card long before Katie and Steve ever met. They had both written this to her knowing they would not be physically present on her special day. Katie’s parents passed away when she was 20 years old, 16 days apart from each other.
Tears streamed down the faces of guests all around. This special card symbolized her parents joy and told her how happy they were for her because they knew that when she opened this card, it meant she had found the man of her dreams. And that was exactly right. It was one of the most emotional moments I’ve ever witnessed at a wedding. But also one of the most special ones too.
Katie and Steve were inseparable from the beginning. Their first date was a motorcycle ride where they got lost together. They had so much fun that they decided to hang out the very next day… And then the next. On only day 3, she met his family. They were hooked on each other.
Katie and Steve were married at the Montgomery building in downtown Excelsior Springs, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Since Katie loves Disney, their wedding reception was a Disney themed celebration all the way down to her jewelry, the cake topper and table decorations. In honor of Katie’s mom who taught her to crochet when she was young, she also had the unique idea to crochet all of the floral arrangements, including the boutonnières. It was truly a personal celebration.
Katie and Steve, thank you for letting us spend your fun day with you. We were truly moved by your loyalty to one another and your loyalty to your friends and family. We love you both and hope you enjoy your preview!
